    It was a good conversation.

    And I have to totally agree with the college presidents. Kids are so much better off “learning” how to drink from their parents, while still living at home, rather than “learning” how to drink at college.

    I’ve said that for a long time.

    It’s kind of like putting off conversations about the birds and the bees until mid-teens, or cleaning the kids’ rooms until they are 12, then saying, “ok now that you’re 13 you have to clean your rooms yourselves.” Then expecting they will miraculously take over without complaint or do a good job at it.

    As far as more people using marijuana upon ending prohibition, it’s ironic to me; seems to me that many of the older folks would benefit the most. But they are caught up in la-la-land prohibitionist BS, they think it’s harmful for them.

    We need to get some more people like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWZrE8akpg0 to come out of the closet (and “Despise the Shame” the Shame Throwers fling) and give some personal testimony how it helped them. We need to counter the paid-off pseudo-lobbyists who whine about not knowing the exact-everything about why it’s helpful, or whine about how it’s so unlike most prescription drugs.

    I don’t know anyone with Parkinson’s disease and I don’t think you’ve posted another video like the one I’ve seen here in the past. But I think someone in the movement should search one out and approach them about doing a time lapse video before and after trying some mmj. I understand it would be anecdotal and not exactly a “study” but…

    I may be completely wrong, but it seems to me that Judy W. over at the PBS News Hour is coming down with it.

            You bet. Michael Fox comes to mind, he’s a little bit older than I am, but one would think he’s tried it at least once in his life.

            I read over at his site, a while ago, something about research into it, but I am just flummoxed that he doesn’t take matters in his own hands and just try some on his own!

            I know it’s probably an ignorant assumption on my part that he lives in California, but where ever he lives, he could probably get some very good quality stuff and just plain old smoke a little or incorporate it into food and see what happens.

            I just can’t believe he’s sitting on his hands (hm, unintended “joke”) and not even trying it. Maybe he has tried it, but is afraid of being shamed by the High Priests of Assigning Permanent Shame.

              I highly doubt he is forgoing MJ. I believe he lives on the East coast, so he can’t admit it until it’s legal. I remember his special on happiness a few years back, and thinking i am sure he utilizes Herb.. but who knows. It just seems unlikely that a thinking, suffering person would follow the law over his own knowing. On a side note, isn’t that going against the teachings of Jesus?

                Yes, sounds like you’re hinting at the healing “work” Jesus is said to have often performed on the Sabbath. He took a lot of heat for ‘breaking” that commandment to not work on a day of rest.

                If Michael’s “using” and knows it works, and is staying quiet, I am very frustrated with him! To say the least.

    Hm, somehow your most recent comment was emailed to me, but is not visible.

    The thing is, when you are sick, there is a lot of stress already… your plate is full. Then by ‘coming out’, he would have to take on the whole prohibition mindset in this country, all the backlash, makes the stress worse – which makes the pain worse. That’s just my thinking…

    I understand, and I would cut him some slack if he was just a regular person. But he’s not. 🙂 He’s been in the public eye and on camera for decades. He has a foundation that bears his name. The stress from those alone should have prepared him for dealing with naysayers. He knows the suffering of people (at least) with that disease. To keep a secret to one’s self while others are suffering is very hard for me to accept. Especially when one can pop over to NORML now and see the brave women, just regular folks, who’ve come out of the closet, or have been out for years. Some of them are patients but not all.

    I’m wondering how around the finger he is to people trying to create patentable products.

    Just to be clear, I am not about to beat him, I don’t know if he’s tried plain old mj or not, in any of its many forms.

    … there is a part in the Bible where Jesus says not to follow the law of the land if it goes against what you know in your heart – which makes sense when you think of the law of, say Germany during the war. I ran across it once, but haven’t seen it since…

    Hm… doesn’t sound familiar. But I will say he was often accused of breaking the OT Law. And he often went against what the religious leaders, the “law givers” of the day, told him to do. Not only that, but he even advised people to love their enemies and do good to people who persecuted them, and THAT was TOTALLY against the OT Law. So yes, for sure he had more than a few experiences and teaching that were “against the law.”

    Although no doubt there are many who want to quote to me that he said he didn’t come to do away with the law but to fulfill it. However, he didn’t say he came to force people to follow it. And people will want to quote Paul to me, but I don’t worship Paul.

      Thank you Drew, i had erased my comment after realizing that using the Bible in my argument was a really bad idea, as it just isn’t my field…

      I did find a few quotations about using God’s Law over the law of the land:

      AC 5:27 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. [28] “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”
      AC 5:29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than men!

      AC 4:18 Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.         Good one! I’ve used those here and there. I thought I used them on this page: The Evil Lie Purporting That Marijuana is “Devil’s Weed” but it seems not all are there. But I know I’ve used them somewhere! 🙂

        Probably one of the best ones I’ve not seen used in our cause is on the above page. It’s about the worthless servant who hides the gift God gave him, even though he knew it could be used for good. He buried it! This is ironic since 1) we know lots of people bury good research so it doesn’t see the light of day 2) people try to bury the truth with lots of BS 3) people actually bury the plants they steal from growers!

        Matthew 25:14-30 — There is even a plant reference!

        And don’t forget Daniel! He was hated by his contemporaries and they made it illegal to pray to anyone but the king. So the first thing he did was go home and pray to God! 🙂 He wantonly broke the law!
