FBI director gets schooled on marijuana legalization

(Source)  It’s been clear for quite some time that proponents of marijuana prohibition have nary a leg to stand on. When their position is scrutinized, even the least bit, it ends up collapsing like a house of cards. In this case, the look on FBI Director Robert Mueller’s face two minutes and forty-three seconds into the video says it all. His empty rhetoric has failed and he has no more artillery left in his arsenal. He’s been defeated and he knows it.

What’s most amazing about this exchange is just how quickly it all unraveled. Faced with the job of defending a multi-billion dollar public policy — one that’s been in place for more than seven decades — one of Washington, DC’s top bureaucrats found himself looking for a place to hide in under three minutes. That’s all the time it takes to destroy marijuana prohibition.

As the public support in favor of legalization continues to grow, we can expect to see more and more defenders of prohibition squirm like Mr. Mueller. That is, if there are any public defenders still left to be found.

  1. But Susan Wiedemeyer-Olesen of the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, who rejected Re-Scheduling Marijuana, said, “If everyone else (meaning the 13 states with Medical Marijuana Laws) jumped of a cliff would you?” WOW! That is really sound resoning isn’t it Susan. HA! This is personal opinion yet the IBOP rejected the re-scheduling of marijuana due to lack of scientific evidence. What a bunch of chicken sh***!

    • We were watching that closely, planning to move to Iowa in fact, as it seemed a sure thing. It is astounding, isn’t it?

The US government’s Health and Human Services division holds a patent for medical marijuana, yet the government is getting away with simultaneously claiming it has no medicinal value???

Marijuana is classified as a more dangerous and less medically beneficial drug than cocaine by the DEA. Brilliant bunch.

  2. The fight goes on. Next step is back to court. Carl Olsen, one of the petitioner’s, is taking this all the way. State Sen Joe Bolkcom introduced SF 293 Medical Marijuana for Iowa in 2009. We hope it will pass in 2010. But this is the type of offense we are up against. The economy sucks in Iowa, unless you are an insurance exec, and there are well over 100 applications for every job from the lowest to the highest. Federal Sen Chuck Grassley (R-IA) recently commented that, “smoking marijuana is dangerous to your health and marijuana is a gateway drug.” He will only support FDA approved synthetic THC pills. God forbid one should go natural.
